Only one game in the NFL this season had a bigger spread than Rams-Jets and that game also featured New York’s winless team. As 17-point favorites, the Rams are fully expected to come away with a victory on Sunday afternoon at SoFi Stadium against the 0-13 Jets.

In doing so, the Rams would clinch a playoff berth and set themselves up to put a bow on the NFC West in Week 16, too. It’s hard to imagine New York winning this game with the league’s last-ranked offense against the Rams’ top-ranked defense, but the better question is how many Los Angeles will win by.

Considering the Seahawks blew out the Jets 40-3 last week with a defense that pales in comparison to the Rams’, this game could also be similarly lopsided. The Jets have scored 10 or fewer points in seven of their 13 games this season, and it’s difficult to see them surpassing that total this week, either.

The Rams are going to win this one convincingly, and it could get to the point where John Wolford enters the game in relief of Jared Goff. Los Angeles had no trouble with the Patriots, winning that game 24-3, and they have far more talent on defense than New York.

There’s almost no concern about the Rams being able to slow down the Jets. Where Los Angeles could make things interesting is on offense if Goff stumbles. He can’t afford to make costly mistakes, like throwing careless interceptions or failing to sense pressure in the pocket, leading to sacks and fumbles.

The Jets have been good at slowing the run game down, ranking fourth in rushing yards per carry allowed and boasting three of the four best defensive tackles in run-stop win rate. So if New York does stonewall Cam Akers and the Rams’ rushing attack, more will fall on Goff.

He’ll step up and have a big game, though. The Rams’ wideouts will feast on New York’s secondary, racking up big yardage after the catch to help Goff out. And this could be the game Los Angeles takes some shots deep against a bad defense in a one-sided game.
